Dreams are not reserved for the young.  Even though in our youth we feel we are invincible…

Super hero’s that can fly…

And in our youth we are nurtured and encouraged to follow our dreams.  A dancer, a doctor, an actress, or musician.  We hold the world in the palm of our hands.  The sky is the limit!

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

~Eleanor Roosevelt

As we grow we change.  Our dreams also grow and change.  Which is the natural course of life.

As long as we continue to dream, there is hope for the future.

“If you don’t have a dream, how are you going to make a dream come true?”

~Oscar  Hammerstein II

tree 1        So no, I do not believe dreams are reserved for the youth.  But are reserved for the brave, the courageous, the ones who have enough naivety to keep going When everyone is telling them to stop.

Ignoring those little voices whispered from smooth-tongued, cool, naysayers milling seeds of doubt.  Seeds that can infect not only our thoughts but our souls if we let them.

“ It’s just a fad. Once it’s over you’ll lose your business.”  One little seed.

“ Why would you do that?”  A questionable seed.

“It’s a lot of work.  Like a lot of work!” Seed number three…

The closer one gets to their dream the more seeds are thrown about their roots.  If we listen our roots can feed from the seeds and blacken our entire being. Leaving us to waste.  A shadow of what we were meant to be.  Or we can choose to dig deep letting our roots push beneath the soil.  Beneath the negativity anchoring where the nutrient water hides enriching our being, encouraging us to spread our branches to the sun.

It’s a task that at times feels impossible.  Because we are human and we feel.

We care…

The longing to fit into that pretty little box wrapped tightly with a bright red bow.  To have people accept you and cheer you on.  Things don’t always work out the way you want them to, but they do work out the way they are supposed to.  The acceptance of one’s fate is freeing.  So continue to dream.

And if you don’t fit in the box; rejoice, spread your wings, and fly free.
